Anthropic nears mega-IPO as updated filing shows slowing growth and huge compute commitments
Anthropic, the AI company behind Claude, is preparing an initial public offering expected this month, with no date confirmed in the reports. An updated filing on November 2 showed about $17 billion in third-quarter revenue, but growth slowed sharply, costs jumped and the company swung to a loss. It also disclosed roughly $895 billion in spending commitments, mostly for computing. Investors reportedly pushed for a more cautious valuation of about $1.5–1.6 trillion. Robinhood is lobbying for a larger retail allocation, an Australian share offer is planned, and critics, including the NYC Comptroller, have questioned the listing.
